About Cooking With Veronick

Where comfort food, creativity, and real life meet

Hi, I’m Veronick — but you can call me Véro.

I’m a self-taught home cook, artist, creative soul, proud mom, wife, and a total nerd at heart. I love cozy things, beautiful details, storytelling, comfort food, and the kind of meals that make people pause after the first bite and go, “Okay… wow.”

Food has always meant more to me than just eating. Food is comfort. Food is memory. Food is care. Food is connection. In so many ways, food is my love language.

I learned early on how powerful a home-cooked meal can be. Growing up, I often found myself in the kitchen, helping feed my family and learning how to stretch ingredients, trust my instincts, and make something warm and meaningful out of whatever we had. That stayed with me and shaped the way I cook, create, and care for others.

Why I Created Cooking With Veronick

I created this space because cooking is such a huge part of who I am, and I wanted a place where I could share that joy with others.

This is where all the parts of me come together — the home cook, the artist, the teacher, the comfort-food lover, the curious mind, and the person who truly believes that a good meal can speak straight to the heart.

I cook for real life. For family dinners. For busy nights. For celebrations. For comfort. For those moments when the fridge looks random but inspiration still finds a way.

Comfort food that works for real life.

A Personal Part of My Journey

My relationship with food changed in a big way after my cancer journey.

In 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 2B colorectal cancer. After treatment and surgery, I began experiencing ongoing digestive challenges, including something called Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS). It forced me to relearn how my body responds to food — what works, what doesn’t, and how to build meals that feel safe, nourishing, and still deeply satisfying.

It hasn’t always been easy. There have been frustrating days, trial and error, and moments where I had to completely rethink how I approach cooking.

But through that process, I gained something incredibly valuable — a deeper understanding of how to adapt recipes, balance ingredients, and create meals that don’t just taste good, but feel good too.

That experience is also what inspired me to begin writing my cookbook — a collection of comforting, flexible recipes designed to help people feel more confident and supported in their kitchen, no matter their needs or circumstances.

It’s my way of taking everything I’ve learned — through both love and challenge — and turning it into something that can help others.

That’s why you’ll sometimes see LARS-friendly options and gentle adaptations throughout my recipes, along with a dedicated section for those who need it.

It’s not about restriction — it’s about making food work for you, whatever your situation may be.

What Inspires Me

I’m deeply inspired by creativity in all its forms. I’m an artist, so presentation matters to me. I’m a nerd, so I love understanding why things work. I’m a mom, so I care about making food that feels comforting and worth gathering around. And my faith shapes the way I see hospitality, gratitude, and the beauty of caring for others.

You’ll see all of that here — comforting classics, creative twists, cultural inspiration, practical techniques, and a lot of heart.

I believe food should feel approachable, never intimidating. Recipes should guide you, not control you. And some of the best meals come from cooking with instinct, curiosity, and love.
